Monster Employment Index

The Monster Employment Index is a monthly analysis of online job demand conducted by Monster Worldwide. Based on a real-time review of millions of opportunities culled from a large selection of job boards including Monster, the Index presents a timely snapshot of employer online recruitment activity in the United States and Europe.

Because recruiting typically precedes actual hiring by a month or two, the Monster Employment Index is considered an important leading labor market indicator and an early gauge of the overall economy. It also provides a benchmark for the growing online recruiting industry, which is benefiting from the secular shift in advertising from print to the Internet.

The U.S. Monster Employment Index is released the day prior to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Employment Situation while the Monster Employment Index Europe is published on the second Tuesday of each month.

Matt Ferguson

Matt Ferguson (born November 30, 1966 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American CEO for the online job site CareerBuilder.com. An alumnus of Indiana University, Ferguson also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Between 2001 and 2006, Ferguson took CareerBuilder.com from a budding contender in the online recruitment space, to the leader in traffic, jobs and revenue through investment in cutting-edge technology, committed customer service, aggressive sales strategies and multi-faceted marketing campaigns.

Jeff Taylor

Jeff Taylor is a founder of the online jobs site Monster.com. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In August 2005, he left Monster to found a new venture called Eons.com, a social networking website for people over age 50. In 2008, Taylor started Tributes.com, which is an online obituaries resource.
